About the Valley

Curicó is one of Chile's most underrated wine regions — and that's precisely what makes it so rewarding to visit. Located 200km south of Santiago, the valley produces wines of genuine quality at a fraction of the price of its more famous neighbours, and the tourism infrastructure is refreshingly uncrowded.

The valley was put on the international map in 1979 when Miguel Torres of Spain established a winery here, introducing modern winemaking techniques that transformed the region. Today, Curicó is known for elegant Chardonnay, fresh Sauvignon Blanc, and approachable Merlot. The town of Curicó itself is a charming base, with a beautiful central plaza and a relaxed pace of life.
